Some things to check when you can't get a connection to your Bluetooth heart rate monitor

If you can't connect to your Bluetooth heart rate monitor in the app, here are some things you can try out:

  1. Make sure your phone has Bluetooth turned on. On iOS, swipe from the bottom of the screen and switch on Bluetooth. On Android, swipe down from the top of the screen and switch on Bluetooth.

  2. Make sure that your heart rate monitor is switched on. If you have a chest strap, try to moisten the connection pads before wearing it as this will help to activate the strap. If you have a heart rate monitor with a switch, make sure the switch is on.

  3. Check that the battery is charged. You can always try to change the battery to see if it helps.

  4. Try closing the Motosumo app and turning Bluetooth off and on again. Then make sure your phone "sees" the device when scanning.

  5. Make sure you or someone else haven't paired your heart rate monitor from another device, from another app on your own phone, or directly in the Bluetooth settings on your phone.

  6. Check that your heart rate monitor is Bluetooth 4.0 or Bluetooth LE compatible. This information is often listed on the back of the device.

If you are still having trouble connecting to your device, please send an email to support@motosumo.com with the make and model of your phone, what Bluetooth device you are trying to connect, and a description of the problem (what did you try to do?).

Important! Some devices, such as the Fitbit and Apple Watch are not standard Bluetooth devices and are therefore currently not supported in the Motosumo app.
