Your heart rate depends on many factors in addition to how hard you are working out right now. For example, your age, weight and sex will affect your maximum heart rate. So when comparing with others, it is common to measure your heart rate in percent of your maximum heart rate instead of measuring it in Beats Per Minute (BPM).

Motosumo can do this calculation for you if you type in your maximum heart rate in the app.

To do so, simply open the Motosumo app and do the following:

  1. Go to the "You" tab.

  2. Hit "Edit" in the upper left corner.

  3. Tap "Max heart rate".

  4. Adjust your maximum heart rate and hit "Save".

If you don't know your maximum heart rate, you can use the approximation: maximum heart rate = 220 – your age. For example, if you are 43 years old, your maximum heart rate will be 220 – 43 = 177 beats per minute. When you edit your profile, you can also set other personal details such as birthday, weight, and height.
